LIGHT

by Evart Emerson Overton

The pathway of man through the ages wends
From the darkness that enveloped the past
His guiding star that ray of hope
Whose brillance shall eternally last.

Obscured at times by the fog and mists
Of forces allegedly real
Yet onward he goes, ever seeking the truth
That truth that he knows will heal.

The bruised and the broken, the sorrowful, sad,
Who seem lost in the mist in the way,
Feel the touch of that unseen gentle hand
And reverently kneel to pray.

The light of truth floods the thought of the man
And joy wells up in his heart,
For he has found that the source of that light is God
And he vows from it never to part.
